Raised on a diet of Nintendo and heartbreak, Basic Printer is the sound of finding peace by way of synthesized panic attacks. Compared to the likes of Animal Collective & Emerson, Lake, & Palmer in the same breath, the live performance is a dizzying concoction of mixed-meter hip-hop beats, orchestral instrumentation, and distorted synthesizers. Despite the comparisons, Basic Printer perhaps more natively feels like a rave held inside of a toy box (when Andy's not home, of course). Jesse Gillenwalters - nasal and melismatic - is a master self deprecator.
