About

The Carver Community Cultural Center is a historic Eastside performing arts venue featuring the 650-seat Jo Long Theatre and the smaller Little Carver Civic Center. Originally erected in 1918 and later repurposed as the Carver Library and Auditorium, it was renovated and reopened by the City of San Antonio in 1977 and continues to present nationally recognized artists and community programs. Its location in Dignowity Hill places it just east of downtown amid a growing cluster of cultural sites and eateries.

Free parking is available in the Carver Administration, Carver Academy, and St. Paul lots; additional free street parking is along Center Street and Gibbs Street by the Friedrich building.

Public transit

VIA Metropolitan Transit Route 25 (East Commerce) serves nearby stops, including E. Houston & Hackberry, a short walk from the venue; riders can use VIA’s lineup/downtown connections for transfers.
